The Skilled Regional visa (Subclass 887) is a permanent visa for people who have lived and worked in specified areas of Australia.

Furthermore, visa holders can travel to and from Australia as many times as they like for 5 years. They will need to apply for a Resident Return Visa (RRV) to continue travelling afterwards.

Required Provisional Visa for Subclass 887

 

Applicants must have held an eligible visa for at least 2 years before applying for a Subclass 887 Visa.

Eligible visas include:

  • Skilled Regional (Provisional) visa (subclass 489);
  • Independent Regional (Provisional) visa (subclass 495);
  • Skilled Designated Area Sponsored visa (subclass 496);
  • Skilled Regional Sponsored visa (subclass 475); and
  • Skilled Regional Sponsored visa (subclass 487).

Covid-19 concessions may apply.

Applicants may also apply if they held a Bridging visa A or Bridging visa B after having made a valid application for a subclass 489, 495 or 487 visa.

Additionally, applicants may apply if a Subclass 887 was lodged outside Australia during the Covid concession period (a subclass 489, 495 or 487 visa expired during the concession period while the visa holder was outside Australia).

 

Subclass 887 Eligibility Criteria & Requirements

 

Subclass 887 applicants must have lived (for at least 2 years) and worked full-time (for at least 12 months) in:

Designated areas of Australia include South Australia, Western Australia, and Victoria.

Full-time work is at least 35 hours per week and may include multiple concurrent part-time jobs.

Generally, Subclass 887 visa applicants must also have functional English language skills at the time a decision has been made on their application.

Concessions may apply if the applicant has paid the second instalment of the visa application charge.
